NoobBase
Open source · Free forever · No paywall

Premium software, priced at zero.

I'm the builder behind NoobBase. No name, no headshot, no personal brand — the work speaks. I ship plugins and platforms that match the paid competition feature for feature, then give them away under an open licence.

Every project below is live in production.

Who I am

No name on the door. Just the builds.

I keep NoobBase anonymous on purpose. You don't need to know who I am to read my source, run it, fork it, or trust it — that's the whole point of open source. Judge the commits, not the CV.

What I will tell you: I'm a solo developer who has spent years building complete production systems — Next.js frontends, Node microservices, message queues, live streaming, billing, caching. Not demos. Things with real users on them.

And I'm an open-source evangelist in the literal sense: I believe good software should be readable, forkable and free to use, and I keep proving it by releasing work that other companies would happily charge a yearly licence for.

What NoobBase promises

  • Free means free

No trial timer, no feature held hostage, no "contact us for pricing". If I ship it, you can use it.

  • Source you can audit

Full code on GitHub. No obfuscation, no phone-home. Read every line before you install it.

  • Built to compete

The benchmark is the best paid product in the category — never the weakest free one.

The approach

Premium-grade. Not a "free version".

Most free plugins are lead magnets — deliberately hobbled so you upgrade. I build the opposite: the full product, then release it.

Case in point

The CacheRocket WordPress plugin

The whole local performance suite ships unlocked the moment you activate it: full page caching with early advanced-cache delivery, critical image and LCP optimization, delayed JavaScript, CSS and JS minification, self-hosted fonts, LazyLoad, WebP and mobile cache variants, WooCommerce-aware caching, custom CDN rewriting, browser cache and GZIP rules, database cleanup, and remote cache warmers straight from wp-admin.

That is the feature list of a plugin people pay a yearly licence for. Here it is free, GPL, and on GitHub.

How I hold myself to it

  • Benchmark against the best paid tool in the category, never the weakest free one.
  • No feature gates, no nag screens, no "pro" upsell buried inside the free product.
  • Source public under GPL or MIT — fork it, audit it, ship it inside your own stack.
  • Shipped in 16 languages, because free should not mean English-only.
  • Maintained release after release, tested against current platform versions.

If a paid competitor can do it, the free version should too. That is the entire NoobBase thesis.

Your turn

Request a plugin

Missing something? Paying a licence for a plugin that should be free? Tell me what to build. Requests go straight into the queue, and the ones people actually need get built first.
